Ben Thorpe
I began at Glory as a graduate trainee working in Business Development and Marketing, before quickly moving into sales and sales management roles. Today, I head a team of almost 700 people running the regional sales and service business for the Asia Pacific region.
Glory’s forward-moving, international structure makes it possible to move role, department and country, if that’s what’s good for you and for the bigger picture. In my journey with Glory, I’ve had the opportunity to work in many countries. I went back to international headquarters in a corporate role for 3 years, before returning to Asia as APAC President.
I’ve found that good line management is crucial and at Glory, it’s a real strength. There are few limits on the support and learning provided by line managers. And as a collective, we’re well equipped to meet challenges. We can tune into the huge collective knowledge and support of the group if we’re facing something tough. Situations vary – roll out schedules, finding new routes to market, customers’ problems. But there are few bounds to our efforts and results when we face them together.
Knowing that Glory is the global market leader in everything we do gives me confidence with our customers. We deal with market leaders and start-ups alike – there’s always something exciting happening. Glory’s strong Japanese heritage and engineering skills combine with a global and local presence. We lead the field locally and internationally.
At Glory we're in this together, always. It's a collaborative effort and a shared success. And it’s not just about the workplace – we’re supported to balance our home life with our careers. Managers have a huge amount of time for their teams and every individual matters. People are supported to succeed, and to engineer successful solutions for our customers. That way, the sky’s the limit.
